Department of Administration and Supplies:-

The department of Administration and Supplies is charged with the following responsibilities:

General administration of the Ministry:

Handles all personnel matters such as appointment, posting, promotion, leave matters, Training, petition, staff welfare, retirement, death benefit, etc.;

Handles the preparation of annual Recurrent and capital Estimates

Preparation of Establishment proposal, vacancy returns in-service and in-proposals;

Handles all General correspondence;

Security and sanitation matters;

Maintenance of Government physical Assets buildings, vehicles, office equipment and furniture;

In charge of office accommodation for staffs;

In charge of procurement matters/utility services;

Handles Administrative/staff matters of its parastatals (EBS and BNCL).

Finance and Account Department :

In charge of preparation of Annual Estimate, Budgeting and Budgetary Control.

Liaises with Ministry of Finance on Budgetary matters

In charge of Accounting and Financial matters

In charge of the preparation of payment vouchers such as salaries and wages overheads and capital payments

Control and maintenance of Accounting Records, Books of Accounts and Books of Assets.

In charge of Revenue collection and rendition of monthly Revenue Statements of the Ministry and Revenue Chart for Progress Analysis;

In charge of interpretation of financial Circulars and matters thereon;

Financial Advisers to the Ministry and its parastatal (E B S and B N C L) on issues that borders on Finance;

Ensures that approvals are in line with Financial Regulations

Submission of Financial Returns to Office of Accountant-General.

Setting up of a control system of Revenue collection, projection and forecasting Revenue position;

Control of Revenue Receipt Booklets:

Department of Information :

In charge of general image and Reputation Management of Government;

In charge of all Public Relations activities of Ministries, Boards, Parastatals and other Government Establishments.

Handles Government Press Conferences/ Briefing, Press Releases and media monitoring.

Organize and coordinates media Tours for Government;

Liaises with Media, their Unions, related Organizations, Public Relations advert Agencies.

In charge of Registration of Media Organizations and Publications.

Management of Inter-Governmental Service like National Council on Information.

Generation and placement of articles in the Media.

In charge of the supervision of Edo Broadcasting Service (E B S)

Department of Orientation :

In charge of all special advocacy programmes anchored in the Ministry;

Responsible for re-orientating the people’s psyche towards acceptance of Government Policies and programmes;

Liaison with multi-lateral agencies such as U N I C E F, U N F P A,

U N A I Ds, etc.

Responsible for public opinion survey on Government Policies and Programmes and attitudinal research (mood Reporting).

 

Department of Publication and Documentation :

In charge of all Government/ Ministry’s printing jobs including special publications like calendars, greeting cards, pamphlets, gazette, etc.

Supervises the Government Printing Press whose responsibility it is to print all classified documents, Government receipts, cash books, Gazettes and record books.

Supervises the Bendel Newspaper Company Limited Publishers of the Nigerian Observer.

It is responsible for the Ministries Achieve and Library.

It is in charge of the technical arms of the Ministry i.e. P A E, Film, Photo and Sound Units.

In charge of the production of Edo State News Bulletin.

 

(F) Department of Community Development

The Department of Community Development has the overall responsibility of mobilizing, stimulating and educating members of the communities in Edo State to organize available human and material resources to undertake self-help development projects that will improve their standard of living. Among other things, the department carryout the following functions:

Sensitize communities on sources of getting assistance for the development of their own community through self-help development efforts.

Link communities with other development agencies for partnership in development process.

Design and implement series of programmes of social and economic value and for self actualization of members of the community.
