Handles all matters relating to the National Council on Agriculture (NCA), Agricultural shows and other similar functions as well as provide the secretariat for Edo State Council on Agriculture (EdSCA).

Agricultural Services

Inputs supply to arable and cash crop farmers
Agricultural mechanisation; farm equipment hiring support services to all categories of farmers
Supervises all government owned tree crops plantation in the State (e.g. Urhonigbe rubber estate)
Livestock development

Farm Services, Crop Protection and Pest Control

Assist resource poor farmers in securing loan from financial institutions
Facilitate modern group farming practices in designated community farm centres
Render pest control and crop protection services to farmers on request
Provides advisory services to young farmers’ club, farmers’ cooperatives.
Continued maintenance of the State Farm Settlements

Fisheries

Fisheries input sourcing and supply to fisher-folks
Improved technology delivery
Advisory services
Aquaculture development to encourage citizens to own fish farms or homestead fish ponds
Facilitate loan disbursement to artisanal fisher-folks under the ECOWAS Fund Accelerated Artisanal Fishing Loan Scheme

Produce

Carry out produce inspection services/grading on scheduled agricultural produce (e.g. rubber, cocoa, palm kernel etc) to maintain high quality standard
Quality control measures and enforcement of export standard schedule in produce stores, factories, markets and border control posts.
Carry out pest control on stored produce
Check produce smuggling and trafficking in the State
Ensure maximum collection of all revenue realisable from these services

Veterinary Public health and Preventive Medicine

Carry out meat inspection (ante and post mortem) on legislated animals meant for human consumption at various abattoirs/slaughter slabs
Epidemiology: Accessing zoonotic / epizootic disease dynamics through active surveillance services i.e monitoring animal and disease control post at border entry points, livestock markets and farms for early warning disease action and control
carry out annual vaccination campaign programmes targeted at control/ eradication of preventable zoonotics and epizootics

Veterinary Services

Diagnosis, Laboratory investigation and treatment of animals.
Veterinary extension and ambulatory services
Establishment of route stock and grazing reserves.
Development of cattle, sheep and goats at ranch level. 

Promotes sustainable land use and management of farm resources in the State
